Scrolls

LVL files and compiled .85S packs for Scrolls by Chris Busch.

Scrolls is an overhead scrolling game for the TI-85. It is not a smooth scroller; that keeps the picture clearer. The TI-85 LCD can get blurry from so-called smooth scrolling.

These .85S files are compiled SENGINE packs (story, maps, and pictures). Transfer a pack to the calculator with a TI-Graph Link (or similar). You also need SENGINE.85S and ZShell on the calc. The engine manual is SCROLLS.TXT.

Many packs were written by me, but not all of them. I have included the original notes from the various authors. I am very thankful for their work.

Because there can be many LVL packs, the story can change from one file to the next. The best-known story is this:

You need to retrieve the scroll of wisdom from a bunch of tree burnin' monsters who don't like you very much. At your disposal is your trusty sling shot and a good supply of bombs. You will need to master both to survive. Be careful of your own bombs — you can set them off too.

Beware: monsters will punch you if they find you. If they do not get you, the fire will burn you.

When you retrieve the Scroll of wisdom, you travel to another distant land and the quest continues.

• You can shoot bombs, fire, or trees to get rid of them.
• The world is very fertile, that is why trees grow everywhere.
• You can only carry one key at a time. Use keys wisely.
• Extra lives as your score increases.
• There are secret passages.
