LVL files and compiled .85S packs for Caves by Chris Busch.

Caves is a side-scrolling game for the TI-85. It is not a smooth scroller; that keeps the picture clearer. The TI-85 LCD can get blurry from so-called smooth scrolling.

These .85S files are compiled CENGINE packs (story, maps, and pictures). Transfer a pack to the calculator with a TI-Graph Link (or similar). You also need CENGINE.85S and ZShell on the calc. The engine manual is CAVES.TXT.

Many packs were written by me, but not all of them. I have included the original notes from the various authors. I am very thankful for their work.

ALPHA Story

Because there can be many LVL packs, the story can change from one file to the next. The best-known story is this:

You need to retrieve the artifact of wisdom from a deep secret world. At your disposal is your trusty pellet gun and your strong jumping legs.

Beware: monsters will hurt you if they find you. If they do not get you, the fire will burn you.

When you retrieve the artifact of wisdom, you travel to another distant land and the quest continues.

2nd Tips

  • You can shoot monsters' bombs to get rid of them.
  • You can only carry one key at a time. Use keys wisely.
  • Extra health as your score increases.
  • Some bricks are shootable and may reveal secret passages.
  • Find the high jumper: stand on it and press Down to soar into the air.
